JAN 29: Invincible, One Be Lo, Paradime, S.U.N., Buff1, Gorilla Funk Mob, Yin in ANN ARBOR

On Friday January 29th, S.U.N. aka Santonio Hughbanks (organizer) will be bringing the Live Lyrics Reunion Concert in Ann Arbor at the legendary Blind Pig concert club. Ten years ago, the Live Lyrics showcase concert series was the launching pad for several artists’ careers in the world renowned Southeastern Michigan Hip Hop community.

Conceptually the show was built around Emcees asserting themselves and their music by performing with a live band. Live Lyrics showcased the talents of multiple artists who were up and coming in 1998-2000. Ten years later these artists constitute a who’s who of today’s most successful Michigan Hip Hop artists. S.U.N., OneBeLo, Paradime, Buff 1, Invincible, Athletic Mic League, along with bands like Funktelligence, & Phryme Numbers were all involved in the original shows. Instrumental in putting all of this together was S.U.N, who up to that moment in time had served as a mentor for many of these artists, and who again is bringing everybody back together for this special event.

Over the course of the last decade since the first Live Lyrics concert, many of these artists have traveled the world, winning over legions of fans, and selling 10’s of thousands of records. OneBeLo has gone on to become one of the best selling hip hop artists out of Michigan. Buff 1 has had a string of successful releases in the last 5 years, and has toured Europe and Australia extensively. Paradime has gone on to tour the world as Kid Rock’s DJ but more importantly, as a solo artist, solidified himself as one of Detroit's most touted emcees, and still holds the same respect 10 years later. Invincible has started Emergence Media, and become one of the most respected emcees the world over, earning endorsements from such luminaries as Talib Kweli. S.U.N has gone on to be recognized for his place in the pantheon of Michigan Hip Hop when the Metro Times named him among one of “only 15 artists of consummate influence in the hip hop branch of Detroit music” in their ‘Century of Sound’ illustration & cover story.

This event is sure to sell out, get there early, the bill is stocked from top to bottom.
